Jay William Johnson has worked in a variety of roles since 2004. Jay William began their career in the US Navy as a Cryptologic Technician, Petty Officer 2nd Class, where they supervised a team working with classified material in a time sensitive environment. From 2010 to 2013, they worked as a Research Assistant at the Laboratory of Remote Sensing Image Processing and Earth Environment Monitoring, where they used ENVI / IDL and ArcGIS and was experienced in satellite imagery time series analysis related to landslides, vegetation coverage, and ocean color. From 2013 to 2018, they worked at Taimau Chemicals as a Business Application Developer and Database Administrator, where they migrated company data from untidy spreadsheets to a MySQL data management application and developed smaller bespoke applications for simplifying workflow in the office and for warehouse management. Currently, they are a Senior Business Integration Engineer at Comentec, where they do SAP/ABAP and CPI Groovy development, integration design & support and is a Boomi integration developer and SAP BTP full stack developer.

Jay William Johnson has a diverse educational background. Jay William obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Music Theory from UC Santa Barbara in 2002. Jay William then went on to complete a Graduate Studies in Earth Sciences - Remote Sensing program at National Cheng Kung University from 2010 to 2012. Following this, they completed a Computer Science program at Hawaii Pacific University in 2009. Jay William also completed a Financial Management and Information Systems program at the University of Maryland Global Campus from 2008 to 2009. Additionally, they obtained an Associate's Degree in Chinese Mandarin from the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center in 2004 to 2005. In 2016, they obtained a Master's Degree in Computer Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Jay William also obtained various certifications, including Regression Models from Coursera Verified Certificates in 2014, Computational Investing, Part I from Coursera Verified Certificates in 2014, Statistical Inference from Coursera Verified Certificates in 2014, Advanced Chinese from National Kaohsiung Normal University in 2010, and Chinese from the University of Hawaii at Manoa in 2009.
