Rodrigo Buenaventura is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in financial market policy and supervision. Since March 2017, Rodrigo has served as Chairman and Director General of Markets at the CNMV (Comisión Nacional del Mercado de Valores), overseeing both primary and secondary Spanish financial markets. Prior to this role, Rodrigo held the position of Head of Markets Division at the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) from September 2011 to March 2017. Rodrigo's career at CNMV also includes positions as Head of Secondary Markets and Head of International Affairs from January 2005 to August 2011. Earlier professional experience includes serving as CEO at AFI Consultores de las Administraciones Publicas SA from 2000 to 2004 and partnering at Analistas Financieros Internacionales from 1993 to 2000. Rodrigo holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, earned between 1986 and 1991, and completed earlier education at Instituto Fortuny and Colegio San Patricio.
