Laurel Beresford has a diverse work experience spanning various roles in different organizations. Laurel started their career as a Consultant at KPMG Australia in 2004 and worked there until 2008. In 2009, they served as a Legal Summer Clerk at the Department of Employment. Laurel then moved on to work as an Associate to Justice Edmonds at the Federal Court of Australia from 2011 to 2012. Laurel joined the ACCC in 2016 as an Assistant Director before transitioning to the Commonwealth Treasury in 2012. At the Commonwealth Treasury, they held several positions, including Legislative Adviser, Policy Analyst, Senior Policy Analyst, A/g Director, and Assistant Director across different divisions. Laurel'smost recent role at the Commonwealth Treasury was as the Assistant Director of the Frameworks Branch in the Foreign Investment Division.
Laurel Beresford holds a Master of Laws (LLM) degree in Government and Commercial Law from The Australian National University, which they pursued from 2013 to 2016. Prior to this, they completed their Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice at the same institution from 2011 to 2012. Laurel Beresford's earlier education includes a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) (Hons) degree from UNSW, which they obtained from 2007 to 2010. Additionally, they hold a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) degree from UNSW, which they completed from 2003 to 2005, majoring in Business Economics, International Business, and Taxation.
