Dr Mark C Thompson

Senior Research Fellow, Head Of The Socioeconomics Program at مركز الملك فيصل للبحوث والدراسات الإسلامية

Dr. Mark C. Thompson has extensive work experience in the field of Islamic studies and Middle East studies. From 2017 to the present, they have been working as a Senior Research Fellow and Head of the Socioeconomics Program at the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies. Prior to this, from 2012 to 2019, they held the position of Assistant Professor of Middle East Studies at King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM).

Dr. Mark C Thompson began their education by pursuing a Master of Arts degree in Applied Linguistics at the University of Wales, Cardiff from 1991 to 1992. After that, they attended the University of Exeter, obtaining a Master of Arts in Middle East Policy Studies from 2006 to 2007. Continuing their studies at the same university, they earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Gulf Studies / Saudi Studies, completing their Ph.D. from 2008 to 2012.
