Fred Chong

Fred Chong is the current Manager of BBTI at CompAsia. Fred has held this position since February of 2022. Prior to their current role, Fred Chong was the Home Device Manager at Celcom Axiata Berhad from August of 2020 to February of 2022. In this role, they were responsible for establishing the right business model, process, system, and performance measurement for all Home devices. Fred also worked on budget requirements with finance for all devices under the home business, sourced for the right devices for the business, and proactively coordinated and organized roadmap sharing sessions with potential partners. Before their time at Celcom Axiata Berhad, Fred Chong was a Product Manager at ZTE Corporation from April of 2016 to July of 2020. In this role, they oversaw 5G mobile terminal development for ZTE Malaysia. Fred was responsible for development project handling, interoperability testing, commercial rollout of various 5G/4G (mmWave Sub 6, SA, NSA) terminals like smartphones, mobile routers and CPEs. Fred also executed the GTM strategy, prepared RFI/RFP/RFQs, and managed cooperative relationships with mobile operator’s device teams (Maxis, Celcom, Digi, U Mobile, webe). Prior to their time at ZTE Corporation, Fred Chong was a Sales Assistant at TMT from December of 2013 to March of 2016.

Fred Chong's educational career includes completing a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electrical/Electronic) with a focus in Telecommunications Engineering from the University of East London, as well as a Foundation in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Stamford College.
