Vice President Of Schools at Compass Rose Public Schools

Mera Dougherty currently serves as the Vice President of Schools at Compass Rose Public Schools, a position held since September 2019, and previously held the title of Founding Principal. Prior to this, Mera Dougherty participated in the BES Fellowship from August 2019 to July 2021, which focuses on developing school leaders in high-need communities. Mera Dougherty's experience in education includes roles such as Principal, Principal in Residence, and Assistant Principal of Instruction at IDEA Public Schools from July 2015 to May 2019, as well as Lead Teacher and Grade Team Leader at KIPP Austin Public Schools from July 2013 to June 2015. Earlier in the career, Mera Dougherty worked as a Lead Teacher at Harlem Village Academies and as a teacher at New Hope Academy. Mera Dougherty began this educational journey as a Corps Member with Teach For America in June 2010. Mera Dougherty holds a Bachelor of Arts in Neurobiology and Behavior from Columbia University and a Master of Education from Hunter College.
