John Hafner

John Hafner is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in energy project development and military service. Currently serving as Vice President of Development at Competitive Power Ventures since September 2007, John Hafner has led the development of utility-scale wind, solar, and natural-gas power projects. Prior to this role, John Hafner served in the US Navy from May 2002 to September 2007, achieving the rank of Lieutenant and working as a Nuclear Engineering Officer and Surface Warfare Officer. Key responsibilities included supervising operations within the nuclear propulsion plant, managing training and maintenance of nuclear power plant machinery, and overseeing ship operations as Officer of the Deck. John Hafner holds a Master’s degree in Engineering Management from Old Dominion University and a Bachelor’s degree in Physics and Astronomy, and Religion from the University of Rochester.
