Phillip Tarrant

Phillip Tarrant has worked in the technology sector for over 20 years. Starting in 1999, they have held various roles such as Teir 3 Support at Sitel, Computer Service Technician at Pronet, IT Coordinator, Network Administrator, and System Administrator at Briarwood Academy, System Administrator at Morgan Thermal Ceramics, Network/Server Administrator and Senior Cyber Security Engineer at Intercontinental Exchange, Sr. Cyber Security Architect at Travel Syndication Technology (TST), and their current role as SOC Technical Manager at Compuquip Cybersecurity. In their roles, Phillip has been responsible for managing servers, desktop computers, printers, routers, switches, firewalls, phones, smartphones, software deployment, security updates, and patches. Phillip has also been responsible for formulating and overseeing phishing and developer security training programs, developing cloud security protections and security posture across various cloud resources, creating custom tools to automate attacks against infrastructure, designing detections for attacks, leading Incident Research and Mentoring SOC Engineers, developing threat trend analysis reports and metrics, and authoring SOPs and training documentation.

Phillip Tarrant has a diverse educational background. Phillip attended Harlem High School from 1995 to 1999, where they obtained a Vocational Technical degree. Phillip then attended Augusta Technical College from 2004 to 2005, where they obtained an EMT-I Certification. In 2014, they attended Virginia College and obtained a Network Engineering degree in the Information Technology field. In 2018, they obtained a GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH) from the SANS Institute. Phillip also obtained a Hacker Tools, Techniques, Exploits, and Incident Handling SEC504 degree from the SANS Technology Institute that same year. In 2019, they obtained an Advanced Incident Response, Threat Hunting, and Digital Forensics SEC508 degree from the SANS Technology Institute, as well as a GIAC Certified Forensics Analyst (GCFA) from GIAC Certifications. Phillip also obtained certifications in Developing A Security Strategy, Incident Management, Organizational Data Security Fundamentals, and Fundamental Cryptography from Cybrary, as well as an A+ Certification from CompTIA. In 2020, they obtained a Web App Penetration Testing and Ethical Hacking, SEC542 degree from the SANS Technology Institute, as well as a GIAC Web Application Penetration Tester (GWAPT) from the SANS Institute.
