Detlef Weigel

Co-founder at Computomics

Detlef Weigel has a diverse and extensive work experience. Detlef started their career as a PhD student at the Max Planck Institute for Developmental Biology in 1986 and later became a Research Associate at the University of Munich in 1988. In 1989, they worked as a Postdoc at the California Institute of Technology before joining the Salk Institute for Biological Studies in 1993 as an Assistant and Associate Professor. In 2001, they became the Director of the Department of Molecular Biology and later served as the Executive Director at the Max Planck Institute for Developmental Biology from 2007 to 2009. In 2012, they co-founded Computomics GmbH & Co. KG and then co-founded CeMeT GmbH in 2014.

Detlef Weigel's education history is as follows:

Detlef Weigel began their education at Bielefeld University in 1981, where they earned a Vordiplom in Biology and Chemistry. Detlef then attended the University of Cologne from 1983 to 1986, where they obtained a Diploma in Biology. Following this, Weigel joined the Max Planck Institute for Developmental Biology from 1986 to 1988 to pursue a Ph.D. in Genetics. Detlef completed their education at Caltech from 1989 to 1993, where they conducted postdoctoral research in the field of Plant Genetics.
