Sara Ross-Howe has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Sara currently works as a faculty member in the School of Applied Computer Science and IT at Conestoga College since 2023. Prior to that, they were with Cloud DX from 2014, where they held multiple positions including Head of Research and Development, Senior Data Scientist, and a member of the Cloud DX Qualcomm Tricorder XPRIZE team. At Cloud DX, Sara led machine learning initiatives, managed hardware projects, and supported clinical and academic research partnerships.

Sara also worked at the University of Waterloo - Systems Design Engineering as a Researcher PhD Candidate starting in 2017, focusing on deep learning for biomedical signal analysis and image processing. Earlier in their career, Sara was the Director of Technical Development at VIQ Solutions, where they managed a team of developers and worked on integrating new technologies into the VIQ product suite. Sara also held the role of Senior Software Developer at VIQ Solutions, where they designed and developed audio signal processing algorithms and developed applications for evidence capture.

Furthermore, Sara worked at International Neural Machines as the Manager of the Data Mining Team, where they developed clinical diagnostic tools and financial fraud detection systems using machine learning algorithms. Sara also conducted a feasibility study with the Ottawa Heart Institute and GE Medical Systems on detection of Coronary Artery Disease in SPECT images, involving image processing research and development using wavelets and FFTs.

Sara Ross-Howe is currently a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Candidate at the University of Waterloo, specializing in Systems Design Engineering with a focus on Machine Learning. Sara began their doctoral studies in 2017 and is expected to complete them in 2022.

Prior to pursuing their PhD, Sara obtained a Master of Applied Science (MASc) degree from the University of Waterloo. Sara pursued this degree in Systems Design from 1996 to 1999.

Sara's educational journey began at the University of Waterloo, where they completed their Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) degree in Systems Design. Sara attended the university from 1990 to 1995.

Before entering higher education, Sara attended Ancaster High School. Unfortunately, no specific start or end years are provided for this period, and no degree or field of study information is available.

In addition to their academic pursuits, Sara has also obtained a certification from the Vector Institute. In July 2018, they completed the Deep Learning and Reinforcement Learning Summer Schools program offered by the institute.
