Wally Malcolm has a diverse background in various industries, primarily in the energy and utilities sectors. Wally started their career at Algoma Steel Inc. in 1989 as an Engineering Technician in the Utilities Division. In 1991, they joined Waterloo North Hydro Inc. and held several roles, including Distribution Engineering Supervisor, Vice-President of Customer Services, and Vice-President of Operations.
In 2008, Wally joined Kitchener Utilities as the Director of Utilities, where they oversaw the supply of natural gas and water for the City of Kitchener. During this time, they also became involved in leadership positions at Festival Hydro and Rhyzome Networks, serving as the Chair of the Board of Directors for both organizations.
In 2016, Wally took on multiple roles as President & CEO at InnPower Corporation, InnServices Utilities Inc., and InnTerprises Limited. These organizations, created by the Town of Innisfil, focused on delivering water, wastewater, and other utility services to the Town of Innisfil and other municipalities.
Most recently, Wally served as the Interim President at Grand River Energy from 2021 to 2022. Wally is currently working as Part-time Faculty in the School of Business at Conestoga College, starting in 2023. Overall, Wally Malcolm has a wealth of experience in utility management, board leadership, and teaching.
Wally Malcolm holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Wilfrid Laurier University. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Education (BEd) degree in Adult and Continuing Education and Teaching from Brock University. Wally'sundergraduate education includes a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) degree in Electrical, which was earned at Lakehead University. Additionally, Wally Malcolm is certified as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) by Professional Engineers Ontario.
