Lawrence Susskind

Lawrence Susskind has an extensive work experience, starting with their role as the Founder of the Consensus Building Institute in 1992. The institute provides mediation and conflict resolution services for various organizations globally. Prior to that, Lawrence was the Vice Chair for Instruction at the Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School, where they played a key role in its establishment and contributed to the development of teaching and training materials. Lawrence also served in several positions at MIT, including Professor of Urban and Environmental Planning and the Ford Professor of Urban and Environmental Planning. During their time at MIT, Lawrence directed the Science Impact Collaborative and taught various classes on environmental planning, negotiation, dispute resolution, water diplomacy, international environmental treaty-making, and participatory action research. Additionally, they mentored numerous doctoral and master's candidates in these fields.

Lawrence Susskind pursued their education in Urban Planning at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 1969 to 1973. During this time, they obtained a Master of City Planning (MCP) degree along with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree.
