Jason Bohne is the senior director of Communications for Consolidated Nuclear Security, LLC, the company responsible for management and operation of the Pantex Plant in Amarillo, Texas, and the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. In this role, he oversees communications with employees, stakeholders from government and local communities, and media. He manages a team of professionals across both locations that is responsible for all elements of internal and external communications, governmental and community relations, emergency public information, issues management, public outreach and tours, educational engagement, graphic design, photography, videography, technical and business writing, web design, printing, historical preservation, and corporate charitable investments.
Previously, Bohne managed public affairs for Bechtel Systems and Infrastructure, Inc. (BSII), the Bechtel global business unit responsible for government services. He oversaw communications strategy and implementation for BSII projects across the United States and in the United Kingdom, Ukraine and the south Pacific. His successes included media coverage that enhanced the reputation of the company and its customers, implementation of a formal issues-management approach across BSII and staff development activities that prepared his team to support future business opportunities.
Bohne also was the internal and external communications manager for Bechtel SAIC Company, LLC, at the Department of Energy’s Yucca Mountain Project. In that role, he directed contractor support of public communications activities, including interactions with state and local governments; public outreach and education; community relations; media relations; information products and services; and online communications at locations in Las Vegas; Washington, D.C.; and other offices across Nevada. His team’s work was instrumental in producing portions of the Yucca Mountain license application; conducting dozens of public meetings; and providing project information to internal, congressional and public audiences.
Earlier in his career, Bohne was an internal communications specialist and emergency public information team manager at the Idaho National Laboratory, and he has hands-on experience in journalism, marketing and communications in the private sector.
Bohne holds a B.A. in mass communications from Idaho State University.
