Rohit Chopra currently serves as the Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, a position held since October 2021. Prior to this role, Chopra was a Commissioner at the Federal Trade Commission from May 2018 to October 2021. In 2016, Chopra worked as a Special Advisor to the Secretary at the U.S. Department of Education and served as Assistant Director and Student Loan Ombudsman at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau from 2010 to 2015. Earlier in their career, Chopra was an Associate at McKinsey & Company between 2008 and 2010. Academically, Chopra holds a Bachelor’s degree from Harvard University and an MBA from The Wharton School, with expertise in financial services and technology.
