Michael J. Thelen

Michael J. Thelen, PE, DGE, is a Senior Principal Civil Engineer at Consumers Energy since December 2014, with prior experience as a Senior Consultant at Soil and Materials Engineers, Inc. from August 1994 to November 2014. Michael has also served as an Adjunct Professor at both Ferris State University and Calvin College, teaching courses on soils and foundation engineering and soil mechanics, respectively. Earlier in Michael's career, as a Senior Engineer at NTH Consultants, Ltd., responsibilities included oversight of geotechnical field explorations, test data interpretation, report preparation, foundation inspection, and the design of various geotechnical systems. Michael holds a BSCE/MSCE in Civil and Geotechnical Engineering from Michigan State University, earned between 1987 and 1992.
