Alex Zhang has a diverse range of work experience. Starting in 2009, they worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Adelaide. They then worked as a Substation Engineer Trainee at SA Power Networks in 2010. In 2011, Alex joined BHP as a Graduate Project Engineer, before moving on to Santos Ltd in 2012, where they held positions as an Electrical Engineer and later as a Subsea System Engineer.
In 2017, Alex joined Cooper Energy as a Project Engineer and Subsea Controls Engineer. They then took on roles as an Offshore Project Engineer and Commissioning/RFSU/RFO Lead. From 2018 to 2021, Alex worked as an Operations Engineer in the Gippsland Basin, followed by a role as a Project Lead for the CHN MCS Upgrade Project. They then became a Senior Subsea Engineer/Subsea Controls SME, leading the CHASE Project. Finally, they took on the role of Subsea System Lead, responsible for designing and delivering subsea production systems.
Overall, Alex has a strong background in project management and engineering, specializing in subsea systems, controls, and operations.
Alex Zhang received a Master's degree in Commercial and Resources Law from The University of Western Australia in 2017. Prior to that, they obtained an Associate Diploma in Project Management from Georgetown University in 2013. In 2012, Alex earned a Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and another Bachelor's degree in Finance, both from the University of Adelaide. Alex also holds a high school diploma from St Peter's College, completed in 2007. In addition to their degrees, they have additional certifications such as being an Associate Member of The Association of International Petroleum Negotiators and being a member of Engineers Australia with the designation of MIEAust, which was obtained in 2012.
