Role Summary:

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Director of HR to join our team on a part-time basis (approx. 15-20 hours/week). This individual will possess a deep understanding of the employment mandates specific to Washington State (and other states as we hire across the US) and bring a wealth of knowledge in both HR administration and thought leadership. As a key component of our leadership team, this role will offer the flexibility of working from home, with occasional visits to our office to stay connected with our vibrant team culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy.
  • Bridge management and employee relations by addressing demands, grievances, or other issues.
  • Manage the recruitment and selection process, ensuring a smooth and welcoming onboarding experience for new hires.
  • Support current and future business needs through the development, engagement, motivation, and preservation of human capital.
  • Oversee and manage a performance appraisal system that drives high performance.
  • Maintain and enhance employee benefits programs, including compensation, health insurance, and any other benefits.
  • Ensure legal compliance throughout human resource management, staying up to date with Washington State employment mandates.
  • Spearhead training initiatives, performance management, and workforce development.
  • Foster a diverse workplace and oversee the development of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives.
  • Act as a consultant to the agency's leadership on HR matters.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 8 years of professional experience in human resources.
  • Knowledge of HR systems and databases.
  • Ability to architect strategy along with leadership skills.
  • Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company.
  • In-depth knowledge of labor law and HR best practices.
  • Knowledgeable in state-specific employment mandates, particularly those in Washington.
  • Experience in the professional services or agency sectors is advantageous but not essential.
