Eugene Hillsman

Eugene Hillsman serves as the Deputy Director for Equity & Inclusion at the Department of Cannabis Control since August 2021, previously held the position of Deputy Director at the City and County of San Francisco from January 2018 to July 2021. Eugene possesses a PhD in History from Princeton University, where studies were completed from August 2010 to June 2017, along with a Master of Public Administration in Public Policy earned at the same institution between 2008 and 2010. Additional experience includes roles as a Policy Analyst at JustLeadershipUSA, and positions at various foundations including the CS Mott Foundation and The Rockefeller Foundation, complemented by internships at Carnegie Corporation of New York and Goldman Sachs. Eugene's academic background also includes a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Washington University in St. Louis, awarded in 2002.
