Judy-Ann Thompson is a Managing Director with CFGI, providing accounting and consulting services to a variety of clients. Prior to joining CFGI, Judy-Ann was a Sr. Manager at Ernst and Young providing assurance services to several clients.
While at CFGI, Judy-Ann has worked with various clients, primarily in the life sciences industry, where she helped with a variety of tasks including the preparation of financial statements, consolidation of various subsidiaries, and assessing the appropriate accounting treatment of various transactions. Judy-Ann has also helped companies prepare for their annual audits by reviewing each balance sheet and income statement account to validate transactions were recorded appropriately and proposed journal entries to correct any differences identified. Judy-Ann has worked on two IPO’s of life science companies, where she assisted the client in assessing accounting/transactional differences between UK and US GAAP and recorded various journal entries to conform the Company’s books and records to be in line with US GAAP. She also assisted the Company with the consolidation of various subsidiaries and with drafting financial statements and various other sections of the F-1 including the MD&A. Most recently, Judy-Ann worked on a carve-out project where she collaborated with the client to prepare carve-out financial statements for a business segment, which included developing an allocation methodology to distribute assets, liabilities, revenues, and expenses. Judy-Ann also has exposure to a variety of accounting topics including Debt vs. Equity, Stock Compensation, and Leases. Judy-Ann has also helped clients with performing SOX assessments, which entailed evaluating the Company’s current control environment and identifying areas of improvement.
Judy-Ann’s experience with CFGI also includes an interim role as Director of SEC reporting at a life science’s company. She played a significant role in helping with the filing of the Company’s quarterly SEC reports, documenting various technical accounting memorandums and updating/documenting SOX narratives for key processes.
In her former role at EY, Judy-Ann worked on two global SOX 404 clients where she was involved in leading her team in evaluating the process flow, design and operating effectiveness of controls. She communicated any deficiencies in internal controls to Management and identified compensating controls that mitigated deficiencies identified. Judy-Ann worked with her team to design interim and year end substantive procedures utilizing a controls-based approach. She also assessed the loan portfolio for impairment in accordance with ASC 310. Judy-Ann also reviewed various financial statements to validate transactions were appropriately disclosed.
Judy-Ann was involved with the audit of various introducing broker dealers. She has reviewed regulatory pronouncements (SEC 15c3-1) to gauge accuracy and verify the client’s compliance with such rules in their net capital calculation. She has assessed the regulatory trial balance to determine whether the charges and other deductions described in Rule 15c3-1 were considered in the client’s calculation.
Judy-Ann has also served as an Accounting Consultant on a Fortune 500 Company, primarily responsible for quarterly reporting to the Parent Company and the preparation of standalone financial statements for subsidiaries of the Company.
Judy-Ann has served as an Accounting Consultant to a Public Government Sponsored Enterprise in the Internal Audit Department, primarily responsible for test of controls related to the Company’s Multifamily Loan Sourcing and Underwriting process.
Judy-Ann graduated with honors from Pace University with a Bachelor of Business Administration. She is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in the state of New York.
