Lea Marquez Peterson serves as an Arizona Corporation Commissioner, a position appointed by Governor Doug Ducey in May 2019, with re-election to a full term in 2020 and tenure as Chairwoman from 2021 to 2023. In this role, Lea Marquez Peterson regulates private and investor-owned utilities across electric, water, gas, and wastewater sectors, as well as overseeing pipeline and railroad safety, business incorporation in Arizona, and the prosecution of securities fraud. Additionally, Lea Marquez Peterson is an Executive Member of the Advisory Council at EPRI, a global energy think tank, starting in January 2023. Educational background includes a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing and Entrepreneurship from the University of Arizona and two Master of Business Administration degrees from Pepperdine Graziadio Business School.
