Charles Thomson has a diverse work experience in the field of surveying, point cloud processing, and product management. Charles started their career at Plowman Craven Limited where they were employed as a Surveyor, performing surveys for railways and general topographic surveys.
Charles then joined UCL as a HELO Knowledge Transfer Researcher, where they worked on establishing BIM as a relevant subject in the CEGE department and advised an SME on integrating laser scanning for BIM production. Charles also worked as a PhD Student and a Postdoctoral Research Associate at UCL, focusing on point cloud processing, commercialization, and virtual reality visualization.
Currently, Charles is serving as the Chief Product Manager at Correvate Limited. Charles'srole involves managing the Vercator cloud platform, interacting with clients and customers, and programming and assessing the technology in a technical B2B market.
Charles Thomson pursued a comprehensive education in the field of Geomatic Engineering and Building Information Modelling. From 2011 to 2016, they attended UCL, where they earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Geomatic Engineering and Building Information Modelling. Prior to this, Charles completed their undergraduate studies at UCL from 2005 to 2009, obtaining a Bachelor of Engineering (MEng) degree with a focus on Geomatic Engineering and Geoinformatics.
