Michael Cortez

Michael Cortez has over 15 years of work experience in the oil and gas industry. Michael began their career in 2006 as a Technical Solutions Engineer at Halliburton, where they provided business value, technical customer support, customer service and built strong working relationships with customers. Michael then became a Technical Professional at Halliburton, leading the CleanStreamTM Field Development Team and developing new technology to reduce bacteria in frac fluids using ultraviolet light. Michael then moved on to Petrohawk Energy as a Completion Engineer for the Haynesville Asset, analyzing frac friction data and providing Quality Assurance Quality Control field support. In 2011, they joined BHP as a Completion Engineer for the GoM Asset and Trinidad and Tobago, where they reduced operational costs and designed and implemented a standardized cost estimating tool. Michael then became a Production Engineering Team Lead at BP in 2019, leading a diverse team and using analytical skills to identify and provide realistic solutions for improvement. In 2019, they also became a Project Manager and Business Planner at Michael Cortez Consulting, managing projects and writing business plans. In 2020, they joined Sharp Vision Software as a Software Engineer, developing a commercial application for the Department of Defense. Michael also joined Full Stack Gamut as a HubSpot CRM Administrator, Full Stack Software Developer, and Product Manager. Lastly, they joined Beautifully Bronzed, LLC in 2014 as an Investor and Partner, co-owning and investing in the startup business. Currently, they are a Senior Developer Advocate at Corva, supporting internal and external developers, onboarding and training new developers, and creating service tickets for customer issues.

Michael Cortez earned a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University between 1997 and 2002. In 2019, they obtained a PMP® Certification Training Course from EdWel Programs. In 2018, they obtained a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt from AIT Business Solutions LLC and a BOSIET Certified from OPITO. In 2005, they obtained a Dale Carnegie Sales Advantage from Dale Carnegie Training. In 2020, they obtained a Certification in Full Stack Web Development from DigitalCrafts.
