Randy Mako has a diverse work experience in design and product management. Randy started their career in 2008 as an intern at Fulcrum Collaborative, where they designed wakeboard models. Randy then worked as an industrial designer and design management intern at Dell in 2010. Randy has also worked as a freelance design consultant, providing services such as design strategy, industrial design, and UX consulting to various startups and organizations. In 2011, they founded Floor Flexers, where they served as the creative director and coordinator, organizing events with a focus on marketing and technology. Randy's longest tenure was at ThoughtWorks, where they held multiple roles, including North America Design Strategy & Product Management Lead and Lead Design & Product Strategy for emerging technology and offerings. Randy was responsible for developing and scaling product and design teams, facilitating successful product launches, and implementing programs such as DesignOps and Product Management. Throughout their career, Randy has gained experience in mentoring designers and aspiring product managers. Most recently, they worked as a Design Lead at Gusto before joining Corvee as the Head of Design in 2023.
Randy Mako began their education in 2000 at Lakefield College School, where they studied engineering until 2004. Randy then attended Savannah College of Art and Design from 2004 to 2009, where they pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Industrial Design and Marine Design. In 2009, Randy enrolled in the same institution to pursue a Master's degree in Design Management, which they completed in 2011. In 2015, they briefly attended CodePath to enhance their skills in iOS for Designers.
