Chris Nance has extensive experience in product development and management. Chris currently serves as the Director of Product Development for Packs & Equipment at Cotopaxi since March 2023. Previously, they held the position of Manager of Product Development for Packs and Equipment at Cotopaxi from July 2022 to March 2023. Before joining Cotopaxi, Chris Nance worked as the Director of Products at Colorado Yurt Company from January 2021 to July 2022. Prior to that, they worked as a Product Development Engineer at Black Diamond Equipment from December 2013 to January 2021. Chris Nance also has a background in outdoor guiding and instruction, having worked as a Client Service Manager/Senior Field Guide at Antarctic Logistics and Expeditions LLC from October 2007 to June 2013, and as an Assistant Manager/Head Guide at Explore Denali from May 2001 to October 2009. Additionally, they served as a Guide/Instructor at Alaska Mountaineering School from 2005 to 2007 and at Earth Treks Climbing Centers from October 2002 to May 2004.

Chris Nance completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Fine and Studio Arts at Texas Christian University from 1996 to 2000. In 2000, they also obtained a certification as a Wilderness First Responder from Wilderness Medical Associates. From 2000 to 2001, Chris pursued a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree at the University of Oregon. In 2001, they attended the National Outdoor Leadership School. Currently, Chris is studying Textile Sciences and Engineering at North Carolina State University starting from 2015.
