Peter Shutan

Peter Shutan has a distinguished legal career spanning decades, currently serving as Vice President of Legal Affairs for the California Gang Investigators Association since July 2018. In addition to this role, Peter is a Commissioner for the Los Angeles County Probation Commission and has been involved with the County of Los Angeles Probation Department since 2008. Peter has held various positions at the LA Probation Department since 1991, including Senior Reserve Deputy Probation Officer. Previously, Peter worked as a Deputy City Attorney for the City of Los Angeles from 1986 to 2018, focusing on trials at the North Valley Courthouse. Peter's early career included a role as a Deputy District Attorney for Plumas County, emphasizing juvenile matters and misdemeanor trials. Peter holds a Doctor of Law (JD) from Southwestern Law School and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science/Public Service from the University of California, Davis. Education was completed at Beverly Hills High School.
