Mike Castillo has a diverse work experience spanning several decades. Mike began their career as a Software Engineer at Bell Laboratories, where they worked in the system testing group for PBXs and switched systems. Mike then moved on to U S West (later turned into Qwest) Advanced Technologies, where they served as a Distinguished Member of Technical Staff (DMTS). In this role, they designed and implemented a new system to provision the Voice Mail product, significantly improving its speed and reliability.
Following their time at U S West, Castillo joined Gold Systems as a Software Architect. Mike primarily worked on creating custom IVR applications and was involved in the architecture, design, and implementation of an Automatic Call Distributor (ACD) product.
In 2014, Castillo joined Vail Systems as a Senior Software Engineer. Here, they focused on developing a cloud-based communications platform, concentrating on the platform SDK, creating sample applications, and providing end-user documentation.
Currently, Castillo is the Chief Technology Officer at Couragion Corporation, where they are responsible for all technical aspects of the company. Mike ensures that the products align with the company's vision of promoting STEM career opportunities and are secure, high-performing, and user-friendly. Additionally, they face the challenge of appealing to diverse customer audiences with limited developer resources.
Mike Castillo earned their Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering from The University of New Mexico, which they attended from 1982 to 1985. Following that, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Computer Science at the University of California, Berkeley from 1986 to 1987.
