QA Lead at Course Studio

Cole Glover has a diverse work experience in the field of geology and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Cole started their career as a Volunteer Geology Assistant T.A. at the University of Victoria in 2016, where they assisted students in understanding geology concepts and invigilated lab exams. Cole then worked as a Senior Lab Assistant at the same university from September 2016 to June 2017.

In 2018, Cole continued their involvement in geology as a High Temperature Petrology Lab Assistant at the University of Victoria. Here, they conducted various procedures for petrography experiments, including rock preparation and creating sample mounts.

Cole also gained professional experience outside of academia. In 2018, they worked as a Geologist Assistant, Geo-technician, and Soil Sampler at Equity, where they developed geologic knowledge, documented drill-core characteristics, and maintained strict quality control protocols.

Cole expanded their skills in GIS by working as a Research Assistant at the Capital Regional District in 2019. Here, they compiled and tabulated spatial data to support land acquisition projects and created a detailed Dog Management geodatabase.

Cole then took on the role of a GIS Analyst at BikeMaps.org, where they utilized R and ArcMap to access and spatially convert cycling safety and hazard data, as well as perform Kernel Density Estimation analysis.

From 2019 to 2020, Cole worked as a GIS & LiDAR Analyst at Aethon Aerial Solutions. In this role, they gained experience developing QGIS-specific tools, performed detailed analysis of oblique imagery, managed client databases, and analyzed 3D vector features and LiDAR point clouds using software such as MicroStation and TerraSolid.

In 2021, Cole became a QA Specialist at Pixel Union, where they ensured the quality of software products. Currently, they hold the position of QA Lead at Course Studio, where they continue to oversee quality assurance processes.

Cole Glover attended the University of Victoria from 2015 to 2019, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree. Their field of study was Earth and Ocean Science, with a minor in Geomatics.
