Stephen Forney

Stephen Forney serves as Chief Financial Officer for Covenant Health. In this capacity, he oversees strategic, fiduciary and operational responsibilities, including accounting, treasury, planning, budgeting and financial reporting. He also provides daily financial leadership and oversight to achieve financial performance.

Stephen brings to this position 30+ years of experience in healthcare finance/operations in acute, post-acute, physician practice and pre-hospital settings with particular focus on operational improvement. Before coming to Covenant Health, he served in leadership capacities as CFO of the Chinese Hospital Association in San Francisco, CA; as CFO for System Operations for Prospect Medical Holdings in Los Angeles, CA; CFO for Verity Health System in Redwood Shores, CA; and as Vice President & CFO of Ardent Health Services/Lovelace Health System in Albuquerque, NM.

A native of New York, Stephen attended Saint Leo College in St. Leo, FL, as an undergraduate where he later earned his MBA, graduating with distinction. He is a licensed certified public accountant; a certified global management accountant, a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives, a fellow in the Healthcare Financial Management Association; and is board certified by the Medical Group Management Association. He is also widely published and is a frequent presenter on financial topics for professional organizations across the country.
