Walter Tavares de Carvalho has extensive work experience in the manufacturing industry. Walter began their career as a Quality Control Specialist at União Fabril Exportadora S.A. (UFE) from 1977 to 1979. Walter then joined Covestro in 1979, where they held various roles over the years. These roles include Operations Manager, Betriebsleiter, and Site Manager, where they managed the Camacari Styrenics Plant in Brazil and was responsible for coordinating all on-site activities and negotiations with government agencies and other partners. From 1991 to 2012, Walter served as Vice President of Production & Development for the Asia Pacific region at Bayer MaterialScience, overseeing multiple compounding plants and application development departments in countries like China, Thailand, and India. Walter was also responsible for setting up new investments, such as the Color Competence & Design Center in China and Technical Center in South Korea. In recent years, Walter has held leadership positions at Covestro's North American divisions, including VP Manufacturing, VP Operations, and currently VP Technical Asset Management and Project Portfolio. Overall, Walter Tavares de Carvalho has demonstrated strong leadership skills and extensive experience in manufacturing, operations, and project management.

Walter Tavares de Carvalho pursued their education in a chronological manner. In 1975, they attended UERJ and obtained a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. Following this, in 1993, they enrolled in Sociedade de Desenvolvimento Empresarial and completed an MBA in PDG/Exec. In 1995, they attended Amana-Key and earned another MBA, this time in Executive International APG.
