Derek Lai

Derek Lai, CPA, CA, has extensive experience in financial management and accounting, currently serving as the Financial Reporting & Treasury Manager and Finance Business Manager at the City of Surrey since December 2018. Derek also works as a Quality Assurance Contractor, CPA Mentor, and Facilitator with CPA Western School of Business since January 2016, focusing on Capstone 1, performance management, and assurance. Prior roles include Senior Accountant at Global Relay and Iridia Medical, as well as Senior Accountant at Smythe CPA, contributing to their substantial expertise in the field. Additionally, Derek has volunteered as a Business Mentor at Beedie School of Business and as an Instructor at JA British Columbia.
