Debbie John has a strong background in learning and development, having worked in various leadership roles throughout their career. Most recently, they served as the Head of Learning and Development at The Chartered Quality Institute since 2018. Prior to that, Debbie worked at City & Guilds as a Higher Levels Manager, where they created a higher education strategy and evaluated potential business opportunities. Debbie also held multiple positions at CIPD, including Head of International Professional Development, Head of Endorsement and Framework Development, Head of Qualifications, and Quality Assurance Manager. In these roles, they oversaw the development and accreditation of qualifications, managed a team and network of centers, and enrolled thousands of students annually. Additionally, Debbie worked at Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (now Ofqual) as a Strategic Manager, Principal Officer (Sectors), and Technical Manager, where they played key roles in reforming vocational qualifications, developing qualification frameworks, and evaluating applications for accreditation and funding. Debbie began their career at Qualifications and Curriculum Authority as a Project Officer.
Debbie John obtained a Master's degree in Tourism Management from the University of Surrey between the years 1992 and 1993. Prior to that, they pursued a Bachelor of Arts - BA in History at the University of Southampton. The exact duration of their undergraduate degree is unknown.
