Dawn Brews has a diverse range of work experience in the education field. Most recently, they served as the Head of Lower School at Crane Country Day School, starting in 2022. Prior to that, they were the Acting Director of Downtown Campus at Moravian Academy from 2021 to 2022. Previously, they worked as the Lower School Principal at Shanghai Community International School-Pudong from 2020 to 2021. Dawn has also held various educational leadership roles in international schools since 2007, focusing on PYP and Backwards by Design educational frameworks, computer technology, and literacy instruction. Dawn has experience as an Assistant Principal and PYP Coordinator at Mont'Kiara International School, a Year Level Team Leader and Educator at Gems World Academy in Dubai, and a Language Curriculum Leader and Grade 5 Teacher at Renaissance College Hong Kong. Dawn started their career as a Classroom Teacher at Carmel School of Hong Kong and as a Long Term Substitute Teacher at Hong Kong International School.
Dawn Brews has a Master of Education (MEd) degree in Educational Leadership and Administration, General from the American College of Education, which they obtained from 2012 to 2013. Prior to that, they completed another Master of Education (MEd) degree in Elementary Education and Teaching from the University of Phoenix, from 2005 to 2007. Their undergraduate degree is a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Psychology from Nova Southeastern University, earned from 1992 to 1995.
In addition to their degrees, Dawn Brews holds certifications in Principal Licensure from the Illinois State Board of Education, obtained in June 2013, and State Educator Preparation and Licensure Board from the State of Illinois, obtained in May 2013.
