Michael Swanwick has a diverse work experience in the fields of research, engineering, and teaching. Michael started their career in 2005 as a Research Assistant at the NSF Nanoscale Science and Engineering Center for High-Rate Nano-Manufacturing. From 2007 to 2011, they worked as a Visiting Scholar at MIT. In 2008, they briefly served as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Cambridge. From 2011 to 2014, they worked as a Postdoctoral Associate at MIT - Microsystems Technology Lab, where they focused on ultrafast optically excited field emission and interference lithography. Since 2014, they have been working as a Research and Development Engineer at Creare.
Michael Swanwick has a strong educational background in engineering. Michael earned their Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University from 2002 to 2006. Following this, they pursued further studies at the University of Cambridge. From 2006 to 2007, they obtained their Master of Philosophy degree in Micro and Nanotechnology (Materials Science). Michael then pursued their Doctor of Philosophy degree in Electrical Engineering from 2007 to 2011, also at the University of Cambridge.
