Gary Markstein has worked in the field of graphic design for over 20 years. GARY began their career in 2000 as an Editorial Cartoonist/Graphic Designer for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. During their time there, they were a member of the Journal Sentinel editorial board and received multiple Society of Newspaper Design Awards of Excellence for page design. In 2013, they moved to the Regional Design Center-Lee Enterprises as a Graphic Designer, coordinating with remote editors to design daily and weekly publications in cities across the country. In 2015, they joined The Pueblo Chieftain as a Graphic Designer, developing page layouts, editing, proofreading, and writing copy for publication under daily deadlines. In 2018, they began working for Ballantine Communications, Inc. as an Illustrator/Graphic Designer, creating motion graphics, ads, logos, brochures, fliers and illustrations for clients and in-house, while also adhering to brand standards. GARY also began working for Clear Title Agency of Arizona as a Real Estate Graphic Design Specialist, producing digital and print marketing materials for real estate clients. GARY has also worked as a Nationally Syndicated Comic Strip Artist/Editorial Cartoonist for Creators Syndicate since 2008, creating editorial cartoons on local, national and international topics.
Gary Markstein graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Graphic Design.
