Ann Rutledge has a long and varied career in the finance industry. In 1990, they began their career as a Senior Manager at the Hong Kong Futures Exchange, where they were one of three senior exchange officers involved in the Hang Seng Option listing. Ann also developed procedures to improve the audit trail and liaised with nascent Chinese futures exchanges. In 1993, they moved to J.P. Morgan Securities (Asia Pacific) Ltd. as a Vice President and Regional Head of Prime Brokerage. In this role, they were a team leader specializing in strategies to refinance infrastructure assets as project companies and a team member specializing in stock IPOs of Chinese companies. In 1995, they joined Moody's Investors Service as a VP/SR Analyst Structured Finance, where they were the lead analyst for large bank multi-seller and highly structured single-seller asset-backed commercial paper conduits. In 1999, Ann Rutledge founded and became the CEO of Creditspectrum Corp/R&R Consulting, where they and Sylvain Raynes evolved the goal of "tweaking" structured finance ratings by updating them in real time to an SAS (software as a service) risk/rating/valuation business. In 2003, they became an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the HKUST Business School. In 2019, they began working as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Columbia University in the City of New York. In 2020, they became an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Capital Markets at Columbia SIPA and a Board Member at Fixed Income Investor Network-FIIN. In 2022, they will become a Distinguished Research Fellow and PhD Researcher at GCAS Research Institute Ireland.

Ann Rutledge's education history includes attending Whetstone High School from 1969-1971, Indooroopilly State High School in 1968, Wellesley College from 1971-1976, where they earned a BA in English and philosophy, Middlebury College in 1978 for Ancient Chinese, University of California, Berkeley from 1979-1981 for East Asian Languages, and The University of Chicago Booth School of Business from 1982-1985, where they earned an MBA.
