Jon Matthys

Jon Matthys has extensive experience in education and management, currently serving as a Teacher at Crescent Academy since August 2019 and involved with Parks and Recreation at Harper Woods since July 2017. Previously, Jon worked as a Social Studies Teacher at David Ellis Academy from December 2018 to August 2022 and at Detroit Public Schools from October 2010 to June 2012, where responsibilities included classroom management and lesson preparation. Jon also held managerial roles at Save-A-Lot and served as a Senior Sales Associate at Family Christian. Jon's early career included positions at Kroger, where responsibilities involved managing a department and stocking shelves. Jon holds a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education Social Studies from Wayne State University and a degree in legal assistant from Macomb Community College.
