Charles Umeh

Charles Umeh has a diverse work experience in the healthcare field. Charles started their career as a Medical Doctor at Infant Jesus Hospital, where they treated outpatients. Charles then worked as a Family Planning Media Advocate at DKT International, where they educated people about family planning methods through a radio program. After that, they served as a National Project Manager at GiftedMom, supervising nurses and collecting data on immunization and antenatal care. Charles also worked as a Medical Doctor at RoyalCare Foundation, where they provided medical care. Additionally, they worked as a Supervisor at the Centre for Clinical Care and Research. Charles then joined Parkers Mobile Clinic and served as a Program Manager, supervising nurses and establishing partnerships. Charles later became the Executive Director of the same clinic, where they designed and planned health programs. Charles also worked as a Physician Case Manager - Africa at Teladoc Health, obtaining comprehensive health histories and directing patients to appropriate services. Most recently, they worked as the Chief Medical Officer at CribMD, coordinating telemedicine consultations and providing medical assessments for clients. Charles also has experience in humanitarian work, as they worked as a Technical Officer - Clinical Services for the Nigerian Red Cross Society, delivering healthcare to refugees. From 2019 to 2022, they attended The University of Edinburgh to pursue a Master's degree in Surgical Science.

In 2021, they began their studies at Deggendorf Institute of Technology, where they are expected to complete a Masters in Global Public Health in 2023. Their field of study in this program is International Public Health/International Health.

Between 2008 and 2014, Charles Umeh attended Nnamdi Azikiwe University, where they obtained a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree with a specialization in Medicine.

In 2016 and 2017, they pursued a diploma in Occupational Health from the University of Bergen (UiB).

During the same period, in 2016 and 2017, Charles Umeh also obtained a Professional Health and Safety Certification from the Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria.

In 2018, they received training in the insertion of long-acting contraceptive methods from both DKT International and Marie Stopes International. Lastly, in 2022, Charles Umeh completed a Covid-19 Vaccination Training program offered by UNDP and became a Masters Trainer on Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health Right in Humanitarian settings through the Inter Agency Working Group (IAWG).
