Tom Wailes has a diverse work experience in the field of user experience (UX) design and product management. Tom has worked in various roles and companies, starting from 1996 to the present.
In 1996, Tom worked as a Senior User Interface Designer at Documentum, where they were responsible for detailed UI specifications and user research for enterprise knowledge and content management software.
From 2001 to 2004, they worked at Yahoo! in different roles, including Design Manager, Director of User Experience, and Senior Director of User Experience and Product Management. In these positions, they led design teams and contributed to the improvement of Yahoo!'s local, maps, events, and search offerings. Tom played a critical role in the development and launch of innovative products such as MyWeb and Yahoo! Answers.
Between 2011 and 2012, Tom served as the VP of User Experience at Oodle, where they overhauled the user experience of the Facebook Marketplace application and designed new interaction models for local recommendations.

Tom also worked as the VP Design at Trimian from 2015 to 2017, where they were responsible for UX strategy, design execution, and user research for mobile networking and messaging apps. Tom gained international press attention for their work on the #NeverTrump app during the 2016 US election.
From 2017 to 2020, Tom worked as a Design Principal at Curai, an early-stage health-tech startup. Tom led design strategy and provided leadership in integrating human-centered AI/ML-based technologies into the telehealth experience.
More recently, Tom joined Wells Fargo in 2020 as an Experience Design Architect, where they contributed to UX design and strategy.
Currently, Tom is the Director of UX at Cricut, a role they started in December 2020.
