Chao Zhang

Chao Zhang is a Senior Machine Learning Engineer II at Cruise, where efforts focus on advancing AI for Autonomous Driving within the Machine Learning Data Shop team since June 2022. Prior experience includes a five-year tenure at Amazon, where Chao held the title of Software Development Engineer II, contributing to the development of new services and features, as well as creating and managing a native AWS Machine Learning service and participating in advancements for the Alexa pipeline. Chao began at Amazon Lab126 as a Software Engineer Developer Intern in 2017 and also completed an engineering internship at Baidu in 2016, specializing in data processing with Hadoop. Chao holds a PhD in Computer Science from Peking University, complemented by a Visiting Scholar program at UC Santa Barbara, and a Bachelor's degree in Microelectronics from Peking University.
