Yichen Shen

Yichen (Eddie) Shen is a Senior Machine Learning Engineer II specializing in perception at Cruise, leading the development of multiple generations of camera-based object detection stacks for autonomous vehicles since June 2021. Prior experience includes work as a Deep Learning Engineer for Rivian, focusing on 2D and 3D object detection, and a Machine Learning Engineer at Samsung Semiconductor US, where Yichen led the creation of an end-to-end 2D object detection pipeline and significantly improved performance for self-driving delivery robots. Yichen also contributed to deep learning projects in digital health, authoring a paper accepted by KDD'19 in collaboration with Andrew Ng's Stanford Machine Learning Group, and has a solid foundation in research and analysis from internships and previous positions at Georgia Institute of Technology and Global Economics Group. Yichen holds a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from Georgia Institute of Technology and a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics and Economics from Carleton College.
