Christos Kotsalos

Research Software Engineer at CSCS

Christos Kotsalos, PhD, is a Research Software Engineer at CSCS since October 2023, previously serving as an HPC Engineer at the Blue Brain Project at EPFL from April 2021 to September 2023. With a strong background in computational biomedicine, Christos conducted research on digital blood simulations focusing on blood rheology at the University of Geneva from May 2017 to March 2021. Earlier roles include research in computer-aided design and digital fabrication, as well as experience in high-performance computing and engineering standards compliance at Akselos and CSCS. Christos has held positions at various notable institutions, including research at CERN and the National Technical University of Athens, and served in the Greek Special Forces as Head Trainer at the Airborne School. Christos Kotsalos holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Geneva, alongside a Master’s degree in Computational Science & Engineering from EPFL and a Diploma in Civil Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens.
