Nahmyo Thomas serves as vice president for programs and operations at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, working closely with senior leadership to oversee and drive the center’s strategy, policy work, and organizational management. She previously served as vice president and director of CSIS’s Abshire-Inamori Leadership Academy and Executive Education program, developing custom trainings for corporate, government, and university partners with a focus on geopolitical trends, Washington policymaking, and executive leadership skills. She also oversaw the center’s internal professional development and training portfolio. Her previous experience includes managing CSIS’s congressional and media relations and standing up the center’s in-house multimedia production studio, the iDeas Lab.
Prior to joining CSIS, Thomas worked for Congresswoman Jackie Speier, covering veteran’s affairs, education, women’s health, and immigration policy. She has taught international relations courses at Syracuse University and environmental courses at the University of California, Santa Barbara, driving the launch of the Santa Barbara County Green Business Program. Thomas holds a BA in global studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and an MSc in political science with a concentration in conflict resolution and governance from the University of Amsterdam.
