Akila Simmons is a dedicated public health professional with diverse experience in epidemiology and community health. Currently serving as a Program Associate at the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists since May 2022, Akila previously held roles as a Health Program Specialist at the Center for Pan Asian Community Services and as a Community Health Responder at CORE. Additional experiences include an internship focused on tuberculosis and refugee health with the DeKalb County Board of Health, along with foundational work as a Front Desk Supervisor at Wood Family Chiropractic. Akila is pursuing a Master of Public Health with a focus on Epidemiology at Georgia State University, building on a Bachelor's degree in Public Health Education and Promotion from Kennesaw State University.
