Jean-Sébastien Martel has been working in the software development industry since 2000. From 2000 to 2004, they worked as a Software Developer at Stone Vogue International. From 2004 to 2006, they worked as a Software Developer at Systematix. From 2006 to 2011, they worked as a Software Development Manager at ACCEO Solutions. From 2011 to 2014, they worked as a Systems Architect at LGS, an IBM company. From 2014 to 2020, they worked as a Technical Product Owner at EXFO. From 2020 to 2022, they worked as a Software Development Manager at Crakmedia. Currently, they are working as a Software Development Manager at both Curaytor and Clearco. At Clearco, they have been leading a platform engineering team focused on optimizing web application delivery, defining initiatives to improve application platform developer experience, and partnering with other engineering teams. At Crakmedia, they have been leading and growing software engineering teams delivering high traffic web applications, coaching and mentoring software engineering teams, and leading and steering new SaaS platform delivery and execution. At EXFO, they have been defining system architecture and technical product vision of a fiber monitoring SaaS solution for telecom and data center customers, defining technological strategy and product roadmap in collaboration with product managers, and establishing and executing technical proposals to allow platform growth and scale through cloud enablement and IoT communication technologies. At LGS, they have been defining system architecture for several consulting mandates in public organizations and private companies, defining systems architecture deliverables for a highly secure public key infrastructure (PKI), and leading and participating in coding an application for invasive species reporting. At ACCEO Solutions, they have been leading web product development teams and guiding an Agile transition with Scrum and Kanban, leading two development teams in delivering SaaS products for SME market, and defining scalable systems architecture and SDLC for web product platform in a pre-cloud environment with strong focus on security. At Systematix, they have been writing, testing, and code reviewing Java applications and PL/SQL packages, writing and testing Oracle Reports, and supporting the principal software engineer in ensuring that code written follows selected patterns.

Jean-Sébastien Martel obtained their Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Université Laval in 2002, having started their studies in 1999.
