Jean-Claude Theis

Dr. Jean-Claude Theis is the Head of Orthopedic Services for CURE Malawi. Prior to joining CURE, Dr. Theis served as an orthopedic surgeon at Dunedin Hospital as well as professor of orthopedic surgery at the Dunedin School of Medicine at the University of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand. He led the development of orthopedic and surgical services at Dunedin Hospital, serving as clinical director of the Department of Orthopedic and Trauma Surgery for many years. He was president of the New Zealand Orthopaedic Association and an Officer for services to medicine of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to Medicine in 2010. On the mission field, Dr. Theis has traveled to Haiti with Hearts and Hands to assist with pediatric orthopedic cases and help the local evangelical church set up a physiotherapy school for Haitians.
