Daniel advocated for greater services and resources and served on the university's Department of Academic and Student Affairs Implementation Team - Military Resource Center. In addition, they served as the Race Director for the 2014 "Run, Walk & Roll" with Veterans 5K, overseeing logistics, planning, and sponsorship outreach.

Daniel has also worked as a panelist for NC STRIVE in June 2015, and earlier as the SVA Financial Manager/Event Coordinator at NC State University from August 2013 to August 2014. In this role, they coordinated volunteers for the first annual "Run, Walk & Roll" with Veterans 5K and served as a speaker and panelist at conferences and forums discussing the challenges and strengths student veterans face in education. Daniel was an active member of the university's Military Affairs Committee.

Daniel's early work experience includes serving in the US Army Aviation. From June 2009 to June 2011, they worked as a Production Control Noncommissioned Officer, where they supervised 14 soldiers and managed their performance. Earlier, from June 2005 to June 2009, they served as a Noncommissioned Officer in the Power Plant Section, where they supervised 4 soldiers and played a role in the rebuild and troubleshooting of aircraft and auxiliary power units.

Daniel Hackley has a diverse education history. In 2013, they began their undergraduate studies at North Carolina State University, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Public Relations, Marketing, and Applied Communication. Daniel completed their bachelor's degree in 2015.

After working in the field for a period of time, Daniel furthered their education in 2017 by pursuing a Graduate Certificate in Professional Communication and Managerial Skills at North Carolina State University. This program allowed him to develop skills in communication and project management, which are essential in the professional world. Daniel completed the certificate program in 2018.

Seeking to advance their knowledge and career opportunities, Daniel enrolled in Western Carolina University in 2020.
