Michael Perdunn has extensive work experience in the field of cybersecurity and project management. Michael currently holds the position of Director, Advisory Services at Cyber Defense Labs since March 2023. Previously, they worked as the Director of Cyber Security at Werner Enterprises from February 2022 to March 2023.
Before that, Perdunn worked at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, where they held two roles. Michael started as an Adjunct Instructor in December 2014 and continued in that position until August 2022. Additionally, they served as a Project Manager from August 2013 to June 2017.
Perdunn also worked at Omaha Public Power District as the Manager, Security Risk & Governance from May 2018 to March 2022. Furthermore, they worked as a Security Consultant at Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield from June 2017 to February 2018.
Prior to this, Perdunn served as a Project Management Coordinator at the State of Nebraska from December 2012 to June 2013. In this role, they oversaw projects impacting Nebraska's Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) and coordinated expansion efforts related to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) requirements and Nebraska's upgrade to ICD-10 compliance. Michael also met with stakeholders and managers to understand project requirements.
Earlier in their career, Perdunn worked as a Production Coordinator at Woodmen of the World from May 2009 to September 2011 and as a Project Coordinator at ISODISC from February 2007 to May 2009.
Michael Perdunn has a strong educational background and has obtained multiple certifications in various fields. Michael completed their Bachelor's Degree in Communications & Philosophy at Hastings College from 2000 to 2004. Michael continued their education at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, where they obtained a Master's Degree in Communications from 2011 to 2013.
In addition to their academic achievements, Michael has also obtained several certifications. In 2002, they received the National Goalkeeper License from United Soccer Coaches. Michael further expanded their soccer coaching qualifications by obtaining the Director of Coaching Diploma from the same institution in 2006. In 2007, they earned the USSF B certification from the U.S. Soccer Federation.
Michael has also pursued certifications in project management and information security. Michael obtained the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certification from the Project Management Institute in 2010. In 2014, they achieved the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the same institution. Furthermore, they obtained the Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) certification from ISACA in 2020, as well as the Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC) certification in 2018.
Lastly, Michael has participated in the HEISC Working Group, an organization operated by EDUCAUSE. Michael became a member in November 2018, although the nature and purpose of this membership are not specified.
