Helder F. Antunes

Helder Antunes is a technologist and executive with over 30 years of experience in Silicon Valley, currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer of CyVolve.

A Cisco Systems executive for over 20 years, Antunes was crucial in the development and leadership of many of Cisco’s flagship initiatives, earning several noted industry awards for his numerous achievements during this time, such as the 2004 Cisco Pioneer Award (for the development of the Dynamic Multipoint VPN), the 2011 CIO 100 Award (for the Cisco Virtual Office), and the 2012 COTEC Entrepreneurial Innovation Award, among numerous others.

A renowned expert in data security, Internet of Things (IoT), and fog computing, Antunes speaks at numerous conferences and symposiums around the world every year and has presented to the U.S. Congress, Norwegian Parliament, and the Assembly of the Portuguese Republic on the topics of technology and innovation. Most recently, Antunes was a guest of the Government of Norway at the 2018 Nobel Peace Prize ceremony. Antunes has repeatedly served as an advisor to the Governments of Portuguese Republic and the Regional Government of the Azores, on matters concerning science, technology, and economic development.

As one of the world’s foremost authorities on edge computing, Antunes co-founded the OpenFog Consortium, a consortium of tech giants and elite institutions united for the standardization and promotion of fog computing. Under Antunes’ leadership as Chairman, OpenFog produced its sector-defining Reference Architecture, achieved standardization by IEEE, and scaled the consortium into a global organization, with members including Fortune 500 firms such as Microsoft, Intel, ARM, and Cisco and elite universities across the world, such as Princeton University, ShanghaiTech University, and National Taiwan University.
