Maria Lawson

Maria Lawson is an experienced journalism professional with a strong background in editorial roles. Currently serving as Deputy Editor at People Newspapers and Special Section Copy Editor at D Magazine, Maria has previously held positions including intern at Central Track and freelance writer for the Dallas Observer. Maria's experience also includes significant editorial leadership at North Texas Daily, where roles ranged from Editor-in-Chief to Senior Staff Writer. Additional experience includes an administrative role at Play Street Museum and an internship at Denton Record-Chronicle. Maria holds dual Bachelor’s degrees in Digital/Print Journalism and Sociology from the University of North Texas, alongside coursework completed at Collin College.
