Gemma Galdon Clavell, PhD has extensive work experience in the field of technology, security, and society. Gemma is the CEO and Founder of Eticas Research and Consulting, an SME based in Spain. At Eticas, they have developed a methodology to audit algorithms, providing solutions to complex technological and social challenges in the field of public security and data protection.

Prior to founding Eticas, Gemma worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Barcelona, where they were also a lecturer on Security Strategy and Police Organisation. Gemma was a Security Policy Programme Director at Universitat Oberta de Catalunya and a PhD Researcher at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, focusing on security, technology, and urban policy.

Gemma has also served as a Trainer/Professor at Institut de Seguretat Pública de Catalunya, delivering police training on community safety, civility, public space, and public order. Gemma was the Head of CIFAL Barcelona at UNITAR, the United Nations Institute for Training & Research. Additionally, they worked as a Junior Researcher at the Transnational Institute.

Gemma Galdon Clavell, PhD, completed their Bachelor's degree in History from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona from 1994 to 1999. Gemma then pursued a Master's degree in Public Administration at the same university from 2007 to 2008. Gemma furthered their education by earning a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Public Policy Analysis from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona between 2008 and 2011.
